Student Support Services

picture

The Student Support Services team have put together a Student Support Services Guide to compliment the Student Handbook (also made available online under 'Student Information'). This guide contains a range of information pertaining to local services, accommodation, indicative costs of living, job seeking, legal assistance and school aged dependents. However, if you wish to discuss anything further or require any specific support, please do not hesitate to visit your local Student Support Services Officer at your local campus. Details regarding the availability of each of the student support services officers at each campus is available in the Student Support Service Officers Roster.

The Student Support Services team @ ACE also offer additional workshops to assist students during the course of their studies. Workshops can include, but are not limited to: Oral Presentations & Public Speaking, Tips on Completing a Written Assessment etc. A list of all upcoming workshops will be made available on the notice board of each campus and the online notice board (home page). If you wish to attend a workshop, confirmation of your attendance would be appreciated at least one week in advance.

To confirm your attendance at an upcoming workshop please email Barbara@ace.vic.edu.au. If you have any suggestions for future workshops or wish to speak to one of the student support services officers regarding a specific issue, please contact either Barbara (Barbara@ace.vic.edu.au or Bernadette (Bernadette@ace.vic.edu.au) via email or via telephone at +61 3 9380 1414.

Disability Support

  • Difficulties with studies or learning environment due to the effects of a disability or impairment.
  • Liaising with trainers / assessors to determine additional supports in the learning environment.
  • Identification of reasonable adjustments / additional supports that can be implemented to assist a student to undertake their studies safely.

Students with a disability, impairment or health condition which impacts their ability to meet the requirements of the training package are encouraged to complete the Reasonable Adjustment / Special Needs Form and arrange an appointment with a Student Support Services Officer. The Student Support Services Officer will seek to clarify the extent of the student’s disability / impairment on their capacity to meet the requirements of the training package and the supports that can be provided by ACE. The Student Support Services Officer will assess each application for additional support on its own merit. ACE will support the student as far as reasonable, however students are advised that in the event of additional equipment or aides requiring purchase, the cost of such equipment will be incurred by the student if the student is agreeable.

Disclosure of disability or impairment is treated with confidence and will not be used to disadvantage the student.

Please refer to ACE's Access and Equity Policy for further information.
